Subject: Observing the Sun with a SCART cable. Thursday 23rd Aug.
The next TekWizz Talk meeting is Thursday, 23rd August, with another
fascinating talk, this time from Mark Edwards of Coventry & Warwickshire
Astronomical Society:

*Speaker*   Mark Edwards
*Title*     Observing the Sun with a SCART cable.
*Abstract*  How a PC can be turned into a radio telescope to observe the
Sun using little more than a piece of wire.

Mark previously worked as a professional radio astronomer at Jodrell
Bank so he should be able to give us a lot of insight as to how those
wonderful radio telescope images are produced and the equipment used to
obtain the data.

I have heard him give a similar talk to the one proposed, by the end of
the talk you should be able to construct your own equipment, connect it
to your computer and start doing radio astronomy. It is surprisingly simple.

Please tell and invite along others who may be interested.

From 7:30pm to 9pm for the talk, normally in the Diamond Meeting Rooms
of Coventry Council House, ask at reception for directions.

We have the room until 9pm so we aim to start fairly promptly after
7:30ish, but turn up any time if you cannot make it for then.

From 9pm onwards we move to The Castle, a local inn, for discussion,
social and chat, with the occasional robot running around.

See the TekWizz website for more info: http://tekwizz.org.uk/

*Next Month*
Thursday 27th September: We are expecting a speaker from the prestigious
TEDx Warwick conferences with a talk along the lines of "Humans
Interfacing with Hardware".

In the meantime there will be more hands on practical sessions for you
to enjoy.

Hope you can make it along, feel free to bring and show any hardware
related projects you have been working on.

Keith
