Hi guys,

this is just a quick note on how next weeks AGM will run. Please do come if you can, or if you can't do contribute to the other thread on this mailing list. We'll start the meeting proper at Cafe Soya, over dinner, at 7.30. Please +1 this thread so I know roughly how many people will be there and I'll book us a table.

For those of you who will get out of work earlier than that well meet up at Urban Coffee Company any time after 6, just for a general natter.

There's a bunch of things we need to discuss, including some specific opportunities we've been offered. So, this is a very rough agenda, if people want to add / amend / ... then please feel free (on this thread):

1) What do people want fizzPOP to be in the future? This has been discussed at the weekly meetings, but there are plenty of people who would probably like to have a say who haven't yet had the opportunity to do so.

2) Do we want to have our own premises and move to a more "workshop" type model of hackspace, similar to the way that Nottingham and London hackspaces work? We have been offered a shared-space arrangement in a central part of Birmingham, which Leroy and I need to put to you all as an opportunity so people can decide whether it's a good option for moving forward.

3) Money -- several people have raised the issue of moving towards a pay-monthly arrangement. Hopefully Leroy can bring along details of the bank accounts to the AGM but I think it would be a good idea to decide whether or not the current funding model is working for us and what we want to do in the future.

4) Meetings and events. We've had a bunch of different ideas for things people would like to do over the next few months, we just need to settle on these and get them organised. I've probably forgotten some of the things we discussed, but these are the ones that spring to mind:

i) Summer trip out to Bletchley Park (fizzPOP ROAD TRIP!)
ii) Trip out to support Oliver in his world record attempt :)
iii) Electromagnetic Field [ http://www.emfcamp.org/ ] that Dominic and others are organising for the UK hackspaces
iv) More on proce55ing -- releasing an Android version of our app to Google Play (Google Market)
v) ... ?

5) General organisation. fizzPOP is organised in a much less formal way than other UK hackspaces. Are people happy with this arrangement or would another model be better? Realistically, if we want to do more we probably need to organise ourselves a bit differently, but how we do that is another thing.

6) AOB.

Thanks everyone,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Two of the events discussed I particularly liked were:

1) FizzPop in the park: hacking in a Birmingham park with food/drink (maybe bbq).

2) FizzPop mad science experiment night (altos rockets spring to mind).

Thought I'd add those to the list for discussion :-)

Have a nice weekend :-)

Andrew.

Only because they included food and explosions :-)
