I probably should have posted this before buying it, but I just put in an order with plastic2print.com with Alan. If anyone wants to buy some 1.75mm filament, I've got a load of ABS coming in black, white, blue and bright orange, as well as a spool of nylon. All 1Kg spools. I'm up for selling it to members if they want some.

Also, if anyone wants to do a group buy of some acrylic/perspex we can combine orders to save shipping. I want to buy an amount of 3mm. Let me know. I plan to order in time for bringing it to next week's meeting. Failing that, it'll likely be the second Wednesday next month.

Arrived today.

Anyone want to buy a kilo of dark blue PLA? I accidentally ordered PLA not ABS. D'oh.

Also, I have 0.25Kg of the new wood stuff to try. It changes colour a bit with temperature and can apparently look very realistic. However, it needs a software routine that varies the nozzle temperature for best effect.

I also got a spool of nylon, which might be interesting.

I've got a first gen. UP! printer with no nozzle temperature control, hence no PLA or fancy stuff. However, I now have a spool of bright orange, black, and white.

Alas fizzPOP's cupcake takes 3mm, but my soon to be delta will use 1.75, so I'll want to buy some in the near future if you want to get rid of it. :)

The video's of nylon I've seen look amazing but it requires temps higher than a PEE

The video's of nylon I've seen look amazing but it requires temps higher than a PEEK based hotend can withstand, maybe I should invest in an all metal hotend.

Hi,

@ytube I'm always on the lookout for choices when buying filament but I didn't know about plastic2print. Have you bought from them before? If the filament is decent, I might try them out next time I order some more filament.

Nylon prints come out looking decent but it's the bendability that is really cool. That said, you need to build a printer to handle very high temperature extrusion (~100° higher than typical ABS prints IIRC) and I think I recall that it required a decent hot bed to stop it lifting off the bed. However, this is from memory of discussions from a number of months ago and I haven't been following developments since.

Hi,

not sure if my first post went through.

If you still have the PLA, I would be interested in buying it.

I've an UP!, and I'm loathe to start tweaking it seriously. However, the shipping charges for filament are so high that I figured I'd buy some extra stuff like the nylon and the wood.

The PLA is still available, it's a really nice deep blue. I'll bring it on Wednesday and we can have an auction for it perhaps. Profits to the new space fund.

I've not tried any printing with the new filament yet.

While I think about it, can anyone bring me a couple of feet of 3mm filament please, in any colour?

A lot of (hinge) designs use a bit of 3mm as the rod through the middle, and redesigning it to use 1.75mm would be both a waste  of time and probably not very effective!

Thanks,
N

If I make it I'll be bringing along the cupcake and it's roll of blue 3mm.
