Dear Friends,
Recently, when I was going through some mails from friends like Srinivas (amma organization) and others regarding the societies registration, I came to know that some mediators (can surely call them brokers) are charging more than 3000 rupees for one society registration. This is not correct.
I am posting here some true information for the benefit of all who wish to go for registration of a society.
1) The government fee for a society registration is Rs.200 only. We can pay it in cash also directly to the concerned official.
2) Please find attached Societies Registration Application form (one pdf file) which any one can use officially to apply for registration of a society in India.
3) Please find attached the registration rules and regulations information also as word file.
Procedure to apply for registration
This is very small process. Please follow these guidelines.
1) Take printouts of the model application form, fill it properly. Or you can prepare your own application form same as prescribed in the format. It is always advisable to submit a printed copy. (Only signatures should be in writing).
2) We need 7 members / names for office bearers. President or General Secretary will have right to register the society on behalf of the other members. One of the both have to go to registrar office alongwith the documents. S/He only have to submit one identity proof in xerox.
3) The enclosures information is provided in the first page of the application.
4) You must provide the "House No objection certificate" duly signed by the house owner and notarized on Rs.10 stamp paper. The notory advocate will charge you Rs. 30-50 depend on the area.
5) Take 3 sets of filled applications. You have to submit 2 copies and one copy will be for your future references / Filing.
6) Don't forget to take receipt for the fee.
Registrations office for Greater Hyderabad
Greater Hyderabad residents have to go to the given below address (only) for registration of a society.
Registrar of Societies,
City civil courts premises,
Nampalli, Hyderabad.
I remember one Mr. Sudhakar is the concern authority there.
For other areas:
In all District Collector's office, there is an official society registration office. You can submit your application there.
But remember, in some areas district headquarters and government official working areas are not the same. Krishna district people have to go to Krishna district collector office in Vijayawada not in Machilipatnam. Rangareddy district people have to apply in RR District Collector's office which is in Lakdi-ka-pool (Beside Amaravathi theatre), not in Vikarabad.
The process is same anywhere. But in other towns the authorities may try to threaten you that they need to check the place, speak to the house owner, report to the police station etc. But all this is nothing but gambling and to get bribe from the applicants.
Getting the Registration Certificate
After submitting the application the authorities have to give you the certificate immediately. Otherwise they will ask for 2,3 days time. But as per citizen charter the time limit for issuing a certificate is 48 hours only.
Some people (sometimes clerks) may ask you for one month, 2 month time for issue of certificate. This is only to make some money out of this transaction from you. Tell them clearly that the official time is only 2 working days. If you speak attentively they will give you fast.
Registration Certificate (RC) and Number
The registration number is mentioned on the middle of the certificate. One number will be given for one society only.
What ACT says?
If you want to know more information about the Societies Registration Act, one (only) book is available in market. Title is "Formation and Registration of a Society" and published by Nabhi Publications, New Delhi. If someone wants to refer, can borrow it from me. When I bought that in 2005 the price is Rs. 75. There may be tentative change in the price. The book is available in all leading law book shops. (One shop is in the Panjagutta X Roads and good number of shops in Koti, Nallakunta, Dilsukhnagar and high court areas).
Hope this information would help you.
Thanks & Regards,
VMRG Suresh
