Perhaps she simply didn't understand the significance of what she was
seeing? A bit shocking, buut it couldn't be considered to be particularly damaging behaviour - not like tramping through OBP habitat without regard for the birds that might be frightened off - the main damage would be the petrol she used just to get a meaningless tick.
