Subject: [Birding-Aus] BLUE-FACED HONEYEATERS
Hello all, for Sydney Listers had a look for the Pied Butcherbirds which I
had reported from Wisemans Ferry on two occasions in recent weeks. Didn't
find any, but saw a group of 10 Blue-faced Honeyeaters.
This is quiet an increase in numbers from previous reports of 5 individuals.
Looks like they could be a regular tick on the County List from now on. The
valley had 100's of Noisy Friar birds and Musk Lorikeets feeding on
flowering Swamp Mahogany, but couldn't find any Swift Parrots in amongst
them. Don't forget the Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater survey next
weekend.

Do you know which 'Collared Turtledove' that is ? I had hoped Streptopelia
decaocto was nowhere in Australia and certainly not allowed to roam free.
Streptopelia roseogrisea is sometimes given as the name of the Barbary
Dove..... etc.

The debate over what to name a 'collared turtle dove' and whether it should
be listed on the Australian list or whether it can be ticked on a twitchers
list has been waging on Birding-aus for years. So I choose not to fuel it,
and will happily agree that the 'collared turtle doves' I saw at Featherdale
a few years ago were indeed Barbary Dove Streptopelia roseogrisea.
