Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and Scientific Research

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who could help me out.
I am doing a paper on Environmental Analysis, and as part of it the class (2nd
year University) is focussing on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. As such I
am focussing on aspects of the Marine Park Authority in regards to access to
the park for scientific research. What would be really great is if anyone out
there has had dealings with the Marine Park Authority could e-mail me so we
could talk about it. I would be focussing on questions such as:-
How much of a hassle is it to gain access?
Are there any costs involved, eg for permits etc?
If so, are these costs realistic?
How long does it take for permission to be granted?
Are the designated research areas big enough?
What improvements could be made to the act regarding research?
What improvements could be made to the Marine Park Authority?

Any information regarding dealings with the Marine Park Authority concerning
research would be very greatly appreciated!!!
