I'm working with L. edodes, P. pulmonarius and G. lucidum using sawdust
as a primary substrate. The problem seems to be some thermophilic
bacteria with black spores and molds like Trichoderma and Penicillium.

I wonder if there is some kind of a selective supplement to substrate
that kills contaminants but doesn't harm the fungi? Is there any data
about sodium acetate or related compounds?

I'd like to work with pasteurized substrates but some ascospores of the
contaminants seem to stay alive in the process.

Thanks
VT

I'm also interested in more mold resistant strains of these fungi.
