For those not on the big biochar list, the story below may be of interest,
as it involves a (previously) hawaiian company. Not entirely surprising,
IMHO.
Besides

development a bit over a month ago which i had missed:

Thanks for posting that, Erich. I just got it in here and was about to put
it up on the list, but you beat me to it. While it is premature to assume a
complaint's allegations as proven, I have to agree this Ponzi
characterization was my first impression also when I attended a Speed of
Wealth pep talk for Mantria investors. Ironically, Mantria gave its
investors all T-shirts that day. The T-shirts read "I got burned by
Mantria." I picked one up. It is a collector's item now, fer sure.
Not sure what has been happening in Dunlap lately, but if the lawsuit
pending in Pennsylvania between the former principals of Carbon Diversion is
any indication, the claims that were made for the 2 MW plant there were
greatly overstated. The larger, 8 Mw plant in Hohenwald, Tennessee was to
have opened on October 1 but has remained an empty shell since September.
Since the SEC has frozen their assets now, I doubt Mantria will be burning
any landfill wastes there this winter.

Subject: [biochar] SEC Charges Mantria With Operating $30 Million Ponzi
Scheme
Dear All List,
This news may have a sliver lining, in that this technology will get put
into the hands of ethical and competent adults who will not drag Biochar's
name through such mud.
