"Cancer: insights from simple mathematical models."

Abstract:

A half-dozen years ago, Iwasa, Michor and Nowak introduced a simple branching process model of cancer. We will describe some recent work on this model and its application to understanding tumor heterogeneity, evaluating ovarian cancer screening strategies, and estimating the number of passenger mutations.
