Hey everyone--
I encourage everyone on this listserve to sign up for the Wisconsin Bike Challenge, which begins next Tuesday, May 1!
The Wisconsin Bike Challenge is a FREE event that provides a fun and simple opportunity to promote wellness, team-building, and bicycling at your workplace (or in your community of cycling friends). By participating in the Wisconsin Bike Challenge, you and your colleagues or friends can easily and conveniently track your bicycle miles and trips for both transportation and recreation on Endomondo's website or smartphone app. Each month, bike prices will be given away to reward Challenge participants. The more you bike, the better your chance of winning will be! The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin has made tremendous improvements to the Challenge website to make every aspect of participating in the Challenge simple and fun.
You can ride solo, form a team with friends or coworkers, or you can join the Waukesha Bicycle Alliance "team"--we currently have eight more slots open (there is a limit of 10 per team).
I recommend you sign up now, so you can get everything set up and do a few "test runs" before the Challenge starts next Tuesday:
2012 Wisconsin Bike Challenge
May 1 – August 31, 2012
Getting started with this year’s Wisconsin Bike Challenge is easy. Simply follow the steps below. If you participated last year, you’ll still need to sign up for the 2012 Challenge, but you’ll be able to keep your account.
STEP 1. Check out the Bike Fed's Challenge Toolkit. You’ll find help FAQ’s, a Challenge email invite to send to fellow employees, and other helpful information to get you started.
STEP 2. Send out the Challenge email invite (found in the Challenge Toolkit) to your colleagues or friends and encourage your colleagues and friends to sign up for the Challenge. If you are not participating with an organization, you can simply sign up on your own! You are also welcome to join the Waukesha Bicycle Alliance team.
STEP 3. Once you complete the simple registration process, start
logging your miles either through your phone or online at the
Challenge website. It's easiest to log your miles on the challenge portion of endomondo's website, especially if you have the same commute distance every day. The challenge website remembers your commute distance and automatically assumes you'll do the same commute when you log your miles.
STEP 4. Every month, our National Challenge partners will conduct a prize drawing. The more you bike, the greater your chances of winning!
Not able to sign up before May 1? No problem! While the Challenge does begin on May 1, you and your workplace or friends can start at any time throughout the Challenge and participate for as long or short of time as you wish.
P.S. – Bike To Work Week is May 14-18, and it’s a great time to focus on logging miles in the Challenge.
