I am trying to make www.bikesmc.org more usefull and I am adding a
section on maps which is at http://www.bikesmc.org/id68.htm

When working on this I used the bike mapper application at 511.org
( actual link is http://bicycling.511.org/ )
for the first time. I requested a route from San Mateo to San Carlos
and it provided a route using El Camino. Which is the most direct
route, but most bicyclists seem to prefer Old County Road. Is there a
way to tell it to provide the most direct route, a lower trafic route
and route with bike lanes or paths? Or does this program always just
provide the most direct route. I assume it would not select a freeway
route.

Also please look at the new maps page and help me provide additional
and usefull information. If you have any of your own maps or routes or
links to other routes or maps, please let me know and we can continue
to build this into a usefull reference page. Email your suggestions to
bik...@hotmail.com or respond to this posting.

Thanks

Steve Vanderlip

The 511 interactive map drives me nuts.

You might try Richard Masoner's planner instead: http://www.cyclelicio.us/map/
Or use Google Maps. Click on "Get directions". Then click on the bicycle icon for directions by bike.

Feel free to reference in your site any maps I've put here:

Thanks Mark

I will work on getting the penbike maps referenced. Any thing you would like me to add to explain who they came from

Also could you define how to use these. Is there a way to print them or the best way to size them. I never worked too much with the google maps and I had a hard time figuring out how to use them.
