Thanks for the update on the Ferry. 

Interestingly, this would be a time-competitive solution for Peninsula to EastBay, except that there is no coordination with the Caltrain schedule.

Is there any information on bicycle access on the ferry. I believe bicycles are allowed, but I am not aware of any other details. Are there any times bikes are not allowed. I assume there is not an additional charge for bikes. What types of racks are used. Are there any instructions bicyclists should follow. Like used on Caltrain, how to tag and stack your bike, wait for walk on passengers to load first ,etc. Are there any limits to the number of bikes. Could a tandem fit on the ferry.

The 'Ferry Fact Sheet' at the WTA web page for SSF service says there's room for 34 bikes on board and room for up to 199 passengers.

Since the ferry operates only during commute hours, I infer there are no commute time restrictions. No bike fees are charged on their existing ferry services.

We have a section on our website www.bikesmc.org where we have put information on using your bike on the various transit systems in San Mateo County (BART, Caltrain,SamTrans, VTA, AC transit) Is there a website yet we could provide information on and a link we could provide to the offical site with this information.
 
We are trying to make bikesmc.org a easy reference place to get links for bikes on transit information.
 
I am looking forward to trying out this new ferry.

Steve had a few more questions besides how many the ferry can hold.

 

1.     Are there times when bikes are not allowed?

2.     Is there an additional charge for bikes?

3.     What types of racks are used?

Bikes are welcome on the ferry. Each boat can carry up to 34 bikes. No special procedures.  I would be happy to speak with them...please forward my email address to them.

If they're anything like the racks on the existing ferries, they're
"dish drainer" style, like so:
