Charlotte Bike Commuter's Breakfast - May 4, 2012

Uptown bike commuters will be getting together earlier than normal this month at Lola's on Brevard on Friday morning, May 4, 2012, between 7:00 and 8:30 AM or so. Lola's on Brevard is located at the corner of S. Brevard St. and Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd, diagonally across the street from the NASCAR museum.  Don't be superstitious!  Drop by to have a cup of coffee, a muffin, or whatever and to chat with fellow bicycle commuters. If you are the first to arrive, grab a table and place your helmet in the middle so the rest of us will see you. If you are not first, look for the table with the helmet in the middle.  If you're a new bike commuter, or want to learn how you can get started, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet other bike commuters and ask them questions.  

The first-ever National Bike to School Day is next Wednesday, May 9th, and you're invited to participate!  Go to www.walktoschool.org to register your school.  Get tips on holding an event, learn about a bike rack giveaway, map routes to your school and get a head start on planning for this year’s International Walk to School Day in October. 

 

Your bike event can be as simple as picking a place in the neighborhood for parents and students to meet and bike the rest of the way to school together.  Start a bike train!  Declare the day a “no-car” day!  Big or small, all efforts get you and your students outside, active and ready to learn!
