Charlotte Bike Commuter's Breakfast - December 9, 2011

Uptown bike commuters will be getting together at Lola's on Brevard on Friday morning, December 9, 2011, between 7:00 and 8:30 AM or so for its last breakfast of 2011. Lola's on Brevard is located at the corner of S. Brevard St. and Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd, diagonally across the street from the NASCAR museum.  Drop by to have a cup of coffee, a muffin, or whatever and to chat with fellow bicycle commuters. If you are the first to arrive, grab a table and place your helmet in the middle so the rest of us will see you. If you are not first, look for the table with the helmet in the middle.  If you're a new bike commuter, or want to learn how you can get started, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet other bike commuters and ask them questions.

The winner will be announced December 7th @ 8:30 PM (you must be present to win).  All proceeds will be donated to Trips for Kids Charlotte (TFKC).  And on Wed, December 7th, 14 New Belgian beers will be the only ones on tap!  Dilworth Grill will donate $1 of every glass sold to TFKC and New Belgian will match it.

Ever thought of combining a bike rack with a bench?  Yeah, I know . . . you see it all the time in downtown Charlotte where folks will often lock their bikes to the end of a sidewalk bench.  But this is different.  Read this article about a student at the Savannah College of Art & Design who designed a bench with a bike rack that utilizes Corian.  http://www.scad.edu/news/2011/matt-gray-furniture-design.cfm  Anybody have any ideas where we ought to put one of these in Charlotte?        

No luncheon this month!  Because the fourth Wednesday of this month falls the week after Christmas, and so many people are off at that time, as we have traditionally done, there will be NO luncheon this month.  Enjoy your time with family and friends!
