I am very disappointed with the new maps currently being used by
Bikemap. I live in Taiwan and these new maps not only omit important
data, such as road names and numbers, but the place names are in the
Hanyu Pinyin form of romanization and do not match the common signage
used in Taiwan. This adds one extra layer of complexity and difficulty
for most users. I hope Bikemaps can consider these problems and revert
to using a mapping software that can be more accurate and reflect the
local names as they are actually spelled.
Can you elaborate on that a bit maybe with examples of a location name, the current way it looks like on Bikemap and the expected presentation? Thanks, Claudius

Hi Andrew, we had to switch from Google-Maps to free maps. In Europe
we launched our brand new Toursprung-Map (Toursprung = us), but this
map has not covered Taiwan yet. But it will soon. Thanks for your
patience! Peter

I have to agree. Google maps was much easier to use, and I usually
have google maps open in another tab at the same time so I can
reference a number of rides at once as well as my location. I am
trying to plan routes in Sardinia and it's harder without the google
hybrid map :( Also, can anyone tell me if there is an option to hide
the elevation profile in the map view? It is cumbersome to have it
there at all times and I'd like to be able to close it out/hide it
when I don't need it. Love the site though for the routes, so thanks!

you will be able to hide the elevation profile after the relaunch of
Bikemap in a few weeks. We are almost finished. And after that we will
update our map and spread it worldwide.
