August 31 Critical Mass fun ride

Folks:

I'd like to propose Friday, August 31 as a Critical Mass fun ride. If we meet at the Richmond Municipal Building at 5:00 we could ride to Glen Miller Park for a "bring your own picnic" dinner and get to know anyone who is interested in bike issues in Richmond. Kids could play on the playground equipment while parents talk.

 

Mark, if this sounds good, please let me know and I'll start contacting folks who aren't on the Bike-Richmond group yet.

Thanks for taking initiative on this. Let's go with your plan.

Today the Earlham Bike Co-op started planning a Critical Mass ride separately.
I'm on that list as well, and have encouraged them to merge Critical Mass
efforts.

Glad this isn't a major conflict with the Earlham Bike Co-op. Sounds like it's an opportunity to really create a "critical mass" by joining forces. My schedule isn't full today so maybe I can get some additional emails out. Thanks for taking care of calendar notifications.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Critical Mass community bike
ride. We had over thirty cyclists on the road, most of them from
Earlham, thanks to promotion by the Earlham Bike Co-op.

If you look at the largest size, you can make out a few more faces.

A smaller group stayed a shelter at Glen Miller Park to discuss local
bike issues. We made good progress on some refinements to the the
recommended commuting routes projects. I'll try to collect that
feedback and get the draft map updated soon.

The next bike event you are encouraged to come to is the "Music Ride",
which is a group recreational ride to raise money for completion of
the Cardinal Greenway trail. Route length options include 5, 25 and 50
mile options. This ride has a $20 registration fee, and is produced by
the Cardinal Greenway organization.
