On Wednesday, March 21, EA.com announced staff reductions. Kesmai Studios
was affected, and a few good friends are no longer here and will be missed.
However, Air Warrior was NOT cancelled, as some rumors have suggested.
*******************************************************
ROFLMAO ..so which, in fact, was the rumor, eh?
********************************************************
The latest version of Air Warrior, Air Warrior III Millennium Version
(AW3MV), is nearing its launch on EA.com as part of the EA PLATINUM Service,
a subscription service including a variety of games available through
EA.com.
********************
Ya .. right.. -rolls eyes-
********************
We've been working on new technologies for upcoming versions of Air Warrior,
and will reveal more about them in the near future..Air Warrior development
will continue.
***************************************
It just keeps on keepin on, dont it?
****************************************
EA.com and Kesmai Studios are devoted to making Air Warrior into the biggest
and best air combat experience anywhere. Kelton Flinn, the original creator
of Air Warrior, is still active in its development. Arnold "Spins" Hendrick
remains the producer of a group that includes many fine programmers and
artists..
******************************************
ROFL!!!! I wouldn't call Greg and I 'many' ..makes me a lousy PR dood :)
..and after I was laid off, well .. 'one' is not 'many' in any language I
ever heard of.
******************************************
.. who have been working with Air Warrior for years. Steve "Mage" Lackey
also continues in his position, familiar to all involved in the day-to-day
activities within the game.

Gawd this cracks me up.

Culero .. dood ... I lived through it.
I stated when I was laid off that AW was cancelled, and that KesCo was no
longer going to develope games.
It's what I was told.
The mouthpeices there tried their best to make me out as a rumor-monger at
*best* for doing so.
To me.. it is just about the best laugh I have had in a long time that the
'rumor' was what they spouted.. not I.
I *love* it when events prove who was shovelin what
. . *especially* when they go to some lengths to discount through innuendo
and outright bullshit the person that tells the truth.
The 'rape' of AW is putting it a bit over the top, even for me. I did not
feel 'violated' at all.
I felt like a mushroom.
Always in the dark, fed BS, and when I began to grow, cut short.
I enjoyed the game, enjoyed most of the people I met much, much more.
After all the idiot things I saw happen in 'Creative Services' that delayed
everything every day month on end.. -shrug- ..I observed and learned.
When EA bought us they blew all kinds of sunshine up our skirts.. but
nothing changed.
AW was doomed then.
No way can one 3d guy turn out a box quality product of the magnitude of AW
in any kind of timely fashion, ie: 49 friggin airplanes!!
I started looking for someplace else to go in April ..(they bought us in
Feb) ..shame nothin came thru till I was actually laid off.
After all the said and done's tho .. I truly have nothing left for AW the
game. I did my best. A few others did also.
There weren't enough of us.
-GE (who works with 3 ..count 'em .. 3d artists, who each have their own 2d
artist team mate, with a supervisor who knows more about rendering and
modeling than I do, on a single product with orders of magnitude less
shapes, textures, .. that sold over 8 *million* to date and will prolly
equal or better that next year . . to say it's 'refreshing' after the
constant jerkoff at KesCo is an understatement)
All the glowing talk in the world about 'box quality' AW didn't *mean*
anything unless the commitment was made to boost headcount to handle the
workload.
Never happened.
If anything it got worse.. there was more to do and less time to do it.
(ya.. go ahead .. whip out a fully articulated aircraft with damage zones
and *seven* LOD's that is *accurate* and everything works like the
original, then map it ..it took me awhile to do the first one .. peice of
cake..at least 30 days on that F-4J .. and it din't even have a prop .. heh)
Then listen to people who have little or no clue denigrate what you did and
spout BS about how they or someone they knew could do better .. ROFL .. even
though to this *day* no one has.
A screen a day, eh?
-GE (ya .. on a P-90 no less)
Yeah, you were right - Air Warrior is dead.
You must feel wonderful
> I felt like a mushroom.

Sorry - I tried to make it a point to keep you filled in on what we
were doin'...
All that said, Kelly's right - forget about it
-moggy
Whoa. Please don't misunderstand me here. I know you have every right to
feel the way you do, believe me. You're preaching to the choir, I agree with
you completely about all the EA BS.
I'm just talking friend to friend here...it feels SO much better to focus on
the good memories, and let the bad go the way of sewage. So much of what I
feel good about regarding AW involves memories you yourself are associated
with....like the many times I saw you in BigPac, 1 vs 5 Bz or Az, and knew
you had 'em surrounded....the passion you shared with us all about real
warbirds....the art....
Just sayin', and FWIW and all that, man. Thx for those good memories ;)
BTW, I'm fuckin' thrilled to hear you're in a happier situation now. Cod
bless.

1. All companies print annual reports to stockholders.
2. All companies do some charitable gifting.
3. All that gifting is usually listed in said annual report.
4. We have now discovered many charitable organizations that proved to be
fronts for
middle east terrorist organizations OR unwittingly gave some money to
said fronts.
*If* we can find a PENNY that accidentally went that way.
ELECTRONIC ARTS PROVIDES DOLLARS TO MUSLIM EXTREMISTS!!!!!!
Sure they can defend - and rightly so. By then it doesn't matter. <EG>
