The New Haven Register had a nice blurb about Derby:
Derby library joins ‘The Big Read’
DERBY — The Derby Public Library is participating in The Big Read
Partnership for Greater New Haven 2008, which is part of the
International Festival of Arts & Ideas.
The library’s May book discussion at 6:30 p.m. May 28 will focus on
this year’s chosen title, “Fahrenheit 451,” by Ray Bradbury. This book
was chosen based on its broad appeal and powerful exploration of
censorship, conformity and the importance of books and reading.
The evening will include special guest reader Jeff Butler, an actor
and singer. Butler recently moved to Derby from Washington state. He
has been in such movies as “End Game,” “Home of the Brave,” “Ghost
Town,” and most recently, “Duplicity,” starring Clive Owen and Julia
Roberts.
Anyone who registers will receive a free copy of the book to keep.
Spanish language copies are also available. Adults and young adults
are invited. Refreshments will be available.
For more information or to register, stop by the library at 313
Elizabeth St., or call 736-1482.
