Hello Biglee,

I am not in the stage of Part II Beginner.
Now in the PUSH/PULL workout, how do i take the weights.........?

As in here>
http://biglee-murali.blogspot.com/2008/03/workout-for-beginners-part-ii.html

I like to do it the Inverted Pyramid way.....that is increasing weights till the final set and the last set
will be till failure.
Please advice me if the above is fine and also as far as the weights are concerned.
Thanks.

Hello Again,
Sorry i am recalling many things which i had piled up in my mind all these days.

Query 1.
In my New gym there is no SQUAT weight stand so i cannot manage weights more than 80kgs (40kgs on either sides) as it will be
the trainers around, there are more than 4 to 5 always around, who will be helping me releasing weights off and on me.
Am 6ft tall and can handle upto 120 kgs at teh final set of three with a practice of just 1.5 months now.
How do i go about?

Query 2

Gym doesnt have
Squat weight stand and Chest weight stand.
Will doing SQUATS and BENCH PRESS on Machines be usefull as the free weights?
Can u please give me a solution for this.
Thanks a lot again Murli.
Regards.
Ujwal

push pull workouts -
yes you are doing the correct thing mate.
The reps are guidelines for weights so intensity counts in how u train

5x5
finish the push pull workout for a 8 week time span and then take one
full week rest and then start off 5x 5 workout

Answer for quiry 1 & 2-
Get into a gym which has a good squat rack. Gyms without squat rack is
not a gym at all bro.. sorry

cheers,

Hello Biglee,
Thanks for ur replys.
For the SQUATS and CHEST, Machine doesnt work right ?
I always thought its the Chest Rod and the Squat Rod which always worked
fine and the Machine was only for variation.
Am i right?

it is not just a variation but a whole different workout. Why?

Do a regular barbell curl and feel your biceps

then do a preacher curl and feel your biceps.

Though you hit the biceps you hit the entire biceps in barbell curl
but you hit only the long head of biceps on preacher. Similarly
machine workouts can be very targeted to goals if we manipulate them
properly along with regular free weight exercises

Hello Murli ,

Oh ok thank you Murli....
Now as a matter of fact......The gym i have joined is a very popular
Fitness centre.....TALWALKARS in Bangalore.
The Free weights, Leg press, Butterfly press ( so do i know it as) , and Triceps Pull Down Rope machine are all excellent quality.
The gym as a whole is of top level quality. ( All these days i have been working out in very small gyms where cleanliness was not looked after, though it matters very less on the muscle development)
I chose this gym because of the quality in the equipment and the responsible management.
....................................
Now back to the topic..

When u have said that the Machine Workouts can be adopted and with the right way of doing it,
results can be favourable for BB( If i understood right), please tell me how do i go about when
i dont have Free Weight Chest rack and Free Weight Squat Rack?????

THE GYM HAS ALL THE WEIGHTS THROUGH 20 Kgs Plates AND RELEVANT RODS ( BICEPS, CHEST AND SHOULDER)
BUT THEY JUST DONT HAVE THE SQUAT STAND AND BENCH PRESS STAND.
So the management promised me that they can help me for Bench press with trainer to give weight ON and OFF, but with
SQUAT they can help me only upto 100KGS beyond which will be risky to Lift and Drop weights WITHOUT the STAND.

So, how do i go about........ should i go for the free weights with assistance for lifting weights OFF and ON me
OR
Do i work out on the Machine as you adviced that it would work with proper training. ( If i have understood right at this point).

P.S. Am sorry for the informal words used to indicate the equipments and accessories.

Regards

Ujwal

Hello,

Am here again with some more doubts...

Query 1.
Does working out in an Airconditioned GYM have any bad effects on BB?
Bcz the GYM which i go to is completely Air Conditioned and a little cooler than normal AC.

Query 2.  I take 1 serving (22gms) of Whey protein imm after the workout followed by a
Glass of Sugar-less Fruit Juice (Water Melon, Karbooj, Chikoo or Pine apple........please suggest if any other better alternatives)
Is this fine for Carbs or should i take any other form of Carbs along with the protein for assimilation.

Regards
Ujwal

Ujwal,

Do you have a smith machine in your gym??? if so... that can be a
decent alternative for heavy squats buddy...

and for your query..

Q1 - the air conditioning or non air conditioned do not have any
effect at all buddy.. just relax and enjoy your workouts on AC

Q2 - you can ask the juice shop person to mix the whey with juice if
he is your friend.. Else consuming them one after the other is also
fine

Ujwal,

Dude there are people whoe say that squatting should be stopped as it
stresses your lower back.. do you accept?

Just see this.. you dont have regular squat. so going for smith
mahcine is the best alternative. I said alternative but not
replacement bro....
