Subject: End user cannot move past Adobe Flash Player Settings
Folks:

Have a client test driving BBB v0.80 (beta 4 on the server) who cannot get past the initial "Adobe Flash Player Settings" dialogue box where one should be able to click "Allow" or "Deny".  The end user can tab to either button and the "?" one, but hitting "Enter" or "Esc" will not select such.  The user has to kill the tab or browser as well since it is "stuck here" situation.  Eventually Adobe Flash will crash on the browser as well I noticed.

This is on an Ubuntu 11.10 system using both Firefox (v12 I think), Chrome browsers (latest version from the Ubuntu PPA for the version), or Opera (latest downloaded).  Adobe Flash is v11.2.202.223ubuntu0.11.10.4 as well.  I believe this is a 64-bit system as well.

Thoughts, comments, and/or suggestions are welcomed.  Thanks in advance.

Also to note, I receive this list in Digest format.  Pardon any delays in responding in advance.

Forgot to add, I can provide a screen shot upon request in case folks are wondering where this user is getting "stuck" at as well.

Hi Crawford,

It's a known Flash issue for Ubuntu.  I did some Googling and found the
following link for you:

Let us know if the above gets you going.

Regards,... Fred

You have to go to adobe global settings manager or shall I say the client.
Then enter the bbb address you are using in the website privacy panel,
here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/s...

The select always allow. That should take care of it.

Thanks.  Will advise the client on this and report back if there are
any further issues.

This idea seems to work only if one has nspluginwrapper installed
which is not the case here.

Seems that this might be the proper path, save the user cannot enter
the BBB web site URLs.  Additional thoughts and input here would be
appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Crawford

All you then need to do is visit the site. When on the bbb site and the
flash popup appears, right click and go to global settings (this will work
even though other options are frozen), the site will then be entered
automatically by adobe since you attempted to visit it and you can then
select always allow in privacy settings, the box with the "eye" after
selecting the bbb url which should be there.

Dion:

The end user add the BBB site to the "Always Allow" list.  Now they
are stuck at the "Connecting to server" after having to restart the
session (with an ongoing line of periods).

I will be experimenting with this some over the next few days since I
wanted to test drive Ubuntu v12.04 some myself.  Just need to get some
available hardware for a desktop build.

You user using Chrome?  Tell him to try opera or firefox because this
problem only occurs with Chrome in linux.  Or go to the macromedia site and
set it not to ask like was previously suggested.  It's a know chrome issue
that apparently they don't seem to think is important enuogh to bother with.
