Hi Everyone,

We just noticed that our servers ubuntu.bigbluebutton.org (apt-get
repository), bigbluebutton.org, and demo.bigbluebutton.org are
currently inaccessible.

Looks like a networking problem. We'll let you know when they are back on-line.

Regards,... Fred

Hi Fred,

Could you tell me, is there way to move BBB from one remote server to
another
with no using the repositary? Just I want to change the hosting
for my BBB right now
and I have no idea how to do that.

Thank you,
Alex

Hi Alex,

BigBlueButton 0.71a (the current release) is stateless, so there isn't
a need to copy over any files. The easiest approach is to setup a new
server using the BigBlueButton packages.

You can install BigBlueButton manually. There steps are outlined here

http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/wiki/InstallingBigBlueButton

We should have the apt-get archives (ubuntu.bigbluebutton.org) back
on-line shortly. Recommend you just install from packages. After an
install, to make the new BigBlueButton server accept the same API
requests, copy over the security salt on the old server to the new.
The security salt is located in the file

/var/lib/tomcat/webapps/bigbluebutton/WEB-INF/classes/bigbluebutton.properties

If you want the demo applications to work on the new server (they must
match the security salt), you can update the security salt in

/var/lib/tomcat/webapps/bigbluebutton/demo/bbb_api_conf.jsp

Finally, on your new server, do a

sudo bbb-conf --clean
sudo bbb-conf --check

Of course, if you've made any other custom changes to the
configuration files in your original install, you'll need to propagate
those changes as well. But if your using a stock install of
BigBlueButton, migration should only require the above steps.

Regards,.... Fred

Hi Fred

Thank you for your quite detailed explanation.
I hope your server will be back on-line soon.

Thank you,
Alex

Any word on the status of the repository? It's been a couple of
days. Hope all is well.
