I had been working for providing VoIP Based solutions from last 5
years. One of the opensources in which i am using is asterisk. If you
required any modification or changes or optimization in asterisk for
bbb kindly write to me on :

I like this tool very much so i have decided to contribute on VoIP
based solutions for bbb.
Thanks

Thanks for your offer -- we welcome your help and much appreciate it.
Anything you can do to improve BigBlueButton benefits everyone.
We've done a lot of work on the VoIP in this release ... specifically
re-working a lot of the SIP code we use to connect to Asterisk and
switching from meetme to app_konference so developer's don't need to
compile a kernel module for voice conferencing.
There's more we can do to leverage Asterisk (and it's other variants
such as free switch). It would be great to work with others how have
depth in the VoIP world.
Regards,... Fred
Sure i would love to take this application bug free. It was a good
move from meetme to app_kcnference because i reduce the headache of
compiling kernel for it.

Mehul
One more suggestion i would like to give is that, right now bbb is
using ulaw as audio codec which is consuming 87.2 kbps appro. for 1
call. Now if we use g729 instead of ulaw than it will consume 31.2
kbps. I know g729 is license codec but there are few g729 binaries
available freely which we can use to optimize bandwidth.

Mehul
We can, but there is more work that needs to be done on the red5 voice
app to support it.
