Subject: Enabling External SIP connections with BBB 08RC1

I am enabling SIP external connections (softphones, ip phones, etc) .

I'm taking as a guide:

http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/issues/detail?id=1133

This worked fine with 0.8.4 beta.

Something extra to check with 0.8RC1?

regards

Solon Caceres

A change was make to use 127.0.0.1 as default in beta4 i believe to
eliminate DOS attacks,   what error are you getting with RC1.

if you run fs_cli do you see your sip phone hitting switch?   Also
make sure ESL is pointing to the right address so you see users in
listener window.

Stephen

Hi Solca,

See the instructions in comment 8 in

  http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/issues/detail?id=1133

to revert the settings for FreeSWITCH to listen to an external IP address.
 You'll need to modify bigbluebutton-sip.properties to point to the
external IP address (not the default 127.0.0.1).  See

http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/wiki/ConfigurationFiles#/usr/s...

Regards,... Fred

Thanks to Fred and Stephen for your responses.

It works very well.

Perhaps we should recommend  (for those who activate this setting) adding a
bit of security by changing some passwords default.

1. Change user password in the configuration bbbuser extension in the file *
bbbuser.xml*
<param name="password" value="CHANGE-ME"/>

2. Change user password in the file *bigbluebutton-sip.properties*
sip.server.password=CHANGE-ME

3. Changing the default password in the file* var.xml*

<X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="default_password=CHANGE-ME-TOO"/>

Regards,

Solón
