It rare that cyclists are delayed by motorists, but as they say
"Patience is a Virtue". In this case I could have attempted to past
the Uhaul truck on the right twice, but in my book "Patience means not
getting squished!"

It would have been better had they changed to the turning lane sooner, but probably aware of an approaching yellow bubble they played it safe by not just cutting over suddenly. Then they waited for traffic to pass and pedestrians to cross. To try to pass them would have been a jerk move based on what I can see from this video.

There's a turning lane at the bottom of a hill here that I always give drivers plenty of room. It's the first real decision of a turn someone coming into the city has to take, and the routing is confusing, so drivers often change lanes suddenly. A few times of being pushed dangerously close to the curb and I decided that pulling up alongside a car (even though I was in the proper lane) was just putting myself at risk.

The only thing that caught me off guard was the fact the Uhaul truck
driver stopped for the pedestrians. Really, stop for pedestrians
around a "sweeper" freeway style right turn? You are luck if 1 in 100
motorists do this in Orange County:

And because of stopping completely, I did not get the chain up to the
big cogs on the cassette. My bad!

Damn. that thing flies!

Starting at 1:15 or so my instinct is to want to look back over my left shoulder to make sure it's clear, and commence passing on the left.  I notice for the next 30 seconds, no one passes you in that lane so it appears to have been unoccupied and available for that.

The problem with passing the truck on the left wasn't the traffic in
that lane (there wasn't any). Instead it was the light timing. I
could see that it just turned red, and if any more than about one car
was coming out of the side street, I would have to come to a full
stop. Then I would be "dead" in the left lane, because the downgrade
had ending, and I'd be racing the truck on human power along. Even a
slowly driven truck would be me on that. It turns out that if I had
gone for the pass, I could have made it, but if I didn't there was a
long line of cars in the right lane and I'd have to merge back in
somewhere. So, it was take a chance and get out of "line", or just
stay in line and know that I would not be any slower than the truck.

However, in this video, I had the chance right as the downgrade ran
out, and I passed the goober!
