Bill,

Alan Inouye talked with me about this initiative, which sounds very promising
and welcome. Thanks for bringing libraries and journalists together to talk
about civic information. I lead ALA's civic engagement initiative, which works
closely with other civic groups/initiatives around the country. We would be
very interested in hearing more about your convening. Personally, I've worked
closely with the Free Press in the past and pleased that this topic is coming
to the Media Reform conference. At Rutgers, I teach in the School of
Communication and Information where our journalism and library and information
science programs are continuously seeing overlap in our emerging roles as
local/civic information agents.
