Twin Earthquakes shake South Australia

TWO earthquakes have shaken parts of South Australia today.

The first, of 4.3 magnitude, occurred at 6.59am (7.29am AEST) about 10km northeast of Quorn in the Flinders Ranges, followed a short time later with a tremor of 2.9 magnitude on the Eyre Peninsula.

Seismologist David Love from the Primary Industries Department says the quakes occurred in sparsely populated parts of the state.

Mr Love said there were two foreshocks leading up to the earthquake near Quorn followed an hour later by an aftershock.

A Quorn resident who didn't want to give his name said the earthquake lasted for a few seconds and felt like a truck driving past.

"There was no damage at all," he said.
