FORECASTERS say Igor has become the fourth hurricane of the Atlantic season with maximum winds near 120km/h.
The storm was far from land late on Saturday.
Forecasters say Igor could become a major hurricane by Monday.
The storm was located about 1975km west of the Cape Verde Islands and was moving west at 27km/h.
