High temps, strong winds spark raging South Dakota wildfires
Associated Press - February 17, 2011 8:55 AM ET
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota wildfire officials say high
temperatures and strong winds have sparked a rash of strong
wildfires in the Black Hills area on private land.
The National Weather Service office in Rapid City posted a wind
advisory until late Thursday afternoon, saying gusts could reach
50 mph.
Rapid City saw record-high temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday,
but forecasters say a cool-down is coming. Some parts of western
South Dakota could get several inches of snow this weekend.
