TENS OF THOUSANDS of people were without power in Southern California
today, a day after temperatures in the area soared to record highs.
A spokeswoman for Southern California Edison said 27, 631 customers
lost electricity during the heatwave.
A record 45 degrees Celsius was recorded in Los Angeles yesterday, the
Los Angeles Times reported.
Stuart Seto, a forecaster for the National Weather Service, said the
temperature was the hottest measured in the area since records began in
1877.
