Strong 5.7 Earthquake Jolts Bangladesh*

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - A strong earthquake measuring 5.7 on the
Richter Scale was felt in different parts of Bangladesh on Tuesday,
officials said in Dhaka.
The quake was felt at 4:01:52 p.m. (local time) in various parts of the
country. Districts affected by the earthquake included Dhaka, Rajshahi,
Rangpur, Chittagong, Sylhet, Bandarban and Khagrachhari, Mohammad
Shahidul Islam, an official of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department,
told AHN Media in the capital, Dhaka.
The epicenter of the tremor was near the India-Myanmar border region
about 258 miles (416 kilometers) east of the Dhaka Seismic Centre at
Agargaon, Islam told AHN.
