Great Earthquakes In Diverse Places
Series of Earthquakes hit eastern California

Several earthquakes, including one measured at magnitude 4.3, hit a
remote section of the California- Nevada region Thursday morning.
The largest quake occurred at 1:43 a.m. near the Scotty's Castle region
of Death Valley National Park in California, about 140 miles northwest
of Las Vegas and 190 miles southeast of Carson City, Nev. The quake
zone was southeast of Bishop in Inyo County. There were no reports of
damage or injuries.
The largest quake was followed by several aftershocks, including one
measuring 3.8 at 3:17 a.m.
