Large Earthquake strikes Peru and Bolivia*

LIMA (Reuters) - A magnitude 5.9 quake struck southeastern Peru on
Wednesday near Bolivia's capital of La Paz.
The U.S. Geological Survey initially reported a 6.3 magnitude quake but
later downgraded it. The temblor was 100 miles northwest of La Paz and
fairly deep -- some 155.5 miles below the surface.
There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties in Peru, a
leading metals exporter.
