LARSEN BAY, Alaska - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of
4.5 has struck several miles underground on Kodiak Island.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the temblor happened around 8:30
p.m. Friday and was centered about 10 miles east-northeast of
Larsen Bay.
USGS geophysicist Randy Baldwin, of the National Earthquake
Information Center in Golden, Colo., says the earthquake happened
in a remote and "very seismically active" area. He says only a
handful of people reported feeling it.
There have been no immediate reports of any injuries or damage
associated with the quake.
