Parliament of the World's Religions to meet in Australia

During the week of December 3 - 9 this year, a Parliament of the the
World's Religions will be held in Melbourne, Australia. The gathering
will debate the question, "How can technology improve life without
ultimately destroying it?" and come to a consensus that will be the
basis of a statement issued by the Parliament.

The theme of the Parliament gives its mission as, "to cultivate harmony
and unity among the world's religious and spiritual communities and
foster their engagement with the world and its guiding institutions in
order to achieve a just, peaceful, safe, prosperous and sustainable world."

The vision of this group includes, among others, a world in which
religious and spiritual communities may live in unity and harmony. They
characterize religious unity as seeking to find common ground on the
important characteristics of various religious traditions and religious
cultures.
