Earthquake Jolts Southern Iran

An earthquake jolted southern Iran over night, with no immediate
report about casualties.
The Iranian Seismological Center said the earthquake, measuring
5.0 on the Richter scale, shook the Hendorabi island in the
Homruzgan province at 18:21:08 GMT, with the epicenter at the
depth of 10 km, and at 26.78 degrees north latitude and 53.77
degrees east longitude.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported earlier that the earthquake
measured 5.1 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter, with a depth
of 30.80 km, was initially determined to be at 27.1461 degrees
north latitude and 53.9545 degrees east longitude.
There is no immediate report about the damage or casualties of the
earthquake.
