POLICE in Colorado were today reviewing officers reports and video of a
400-person riot that broke out after an Earth, Wind & Fire concert
to determine if more arrests could be made.
The riot, which occurred early on Sunday morning local time in Fort
Collins, 92km north of Denver, during the annual Bohemian Nights at
NewWestFest festival left several people injured, a storefront damaged
and a vendor tent destroyed by fire, The Coloradoan said.
Between four and six people were arrested on suspicion of interfering
with police, obstruction, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, Fort
Collins police Officer Bob Younger said.
But an exact number of arrests was unavailable with police still to
review all reports filed by officers at the scene.
Thousands of people had travelled to Fort Collins on Saturday night to
see 70s funk and disco band Earth, Wind & Fire perform at the arts
and craft festival.
Large crowds remained in the streets after the show finished and three
separate disturbances broke out, police said.
Some threw beer bottles, patio furniture and other objects at police.
They also damaged cars, stole thousands of dollars worth of items from
festival vendor tents and set trash cans on fire.
Twelve people, who were thrown through windows during the riot, were
treated at the Poudre Valley Hospital for cuts.
The Fort Collins Downtown Business Association called the incident
"unfortunate and not a true representation of the safe and enjoyable
environment that the community has come to know".
