BAGHDAD (AP) — Three U.S. soldiers were killed and six others were
wounded Saturday in separate attacks in Baghdad and southwest of the
capital, the military said.

A roadside bomb killed one U.S. soldier and wounded two were wounded
while they were on a foot patrol southwest of Baghdad.

Another soldier died and three were wounded when their vehicle was
struck by a roadside bomb, followed by small-arms fire in southwestern
Baghdad, the military said separately.

A combat security patrol also was attacked by small-arms fire, killing a
soldier and wounding another in an eastern section of the capital.

The soldiers' names were withheld pending family notification.

At least 3,318 members of the U.S. military have died since the Iraq war
started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

Also Saturday, Poland's defense ministry said a Polish soldier was
killed and four injured when their convoy was hit by a roadside bomb
Friday night in Diwaniyah, 80 miles south of Baghdad.
