Houston father accused of beating young son to death for not going to sleep

A TEXAS father has been charged with murder today after allegedly beating his young son to death because he would not go to sleep.
Alex McGowen Duncan, 34, is accused of subjecting Tekerrious Jackson to at least two weeks of abuse after the six-year-old came to stay with him for the summer, the Houston Chronicle reported..
The child - known as TK - would be forced to get on his knees and raise his arms above his head if he did not go to sleep, police said.
Mr Duncan would then allegedly repeatedly punch the child in the chest.
“If Mr Duncan didn’t see him with his eyes closed or saw him wink, he would beat him,” a police spokesperson said.
TK suffered some kind of seizure on Saturday night after enduring about eight hours of punishment at the apartment in the 4900 block of Polk, east Houston.
Mr Duncan shared the one-room unit with his girlfriend, 30-year-old Tammyra Sampson, and her 11-year-old daughter.
An ambulance was called and TK was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
