Fierce Flooding leaves eight dead in Japan

In the city of Kani in Gifu Prefecture, flood water from a river washed away dozens of trucks.

Flooding and landslides have killed at least eight people in Western Japan with authorities searching for several people who are still missing.

Dozens of vehicles have been washed away by torrential rains while landslides have buried several houses in the city of Kani in Gifu Prefecture.

Rescue workers have used boats and helicopters to aid residents trapped in flooded homes in the region.

More rains have been forecast for in coming days.

Meanwhile, neighboring China is bracing for its worst floods in more than a decade, as Typhoon Conson is approaching the country's southern coast.

Typhoon Conson brings torrential rains increasing the risk of floods.

Flooding and landslides have already killed about 140 people in China this month.

More than 35 million people across the country have been hit by the poor weather.
