Strong Earthquake strikes off coast of Papua New Guinea

AN earthquake of 6.5 magnitude has struck deep under the sea off the west coast of Bougainville Island in Papua New Guinea, US monitors said.
The quake struck at 08.28 (AEDT) at a depth of 74km, the US Geological Survey said.
Its epicentre lay 126km west of Arawa.
There was no immediate alert issued by the Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.
