March 14 (Bloomberg) -- Buildings in downtown Tokyo were shaken by an earthquake of magnitude 6.6 at 5:08 p.m. local time. The U.S. Geological Service said the tremor was centered offshore 310 kilometers (193 miles) northeast of Tokyo, at a depth of 51 kilometers.
National broadcaster NHK reported the quake posed no tsunami danger. No injury or damage reports were initially available.
