A TODDLER died after being found submerged in a baptismal font at
an Indianapolis church in the US.
Employees told police that they found the child underwater in the
two-feet (60cm) deep baptismal pool at the Praise Fellowship
Assembly of God church, northwestern Indianapolis, yesterday
afternoon, according to the newspaper.
The boy, identified as Juan Cardenas, was taken to the St Vincent
Indianapolis Hospital, where he died, police told The Indianapolis
Star.
Juan attended a daycare centre at the church, Indianapolis police
spokesman Kendale Adams said.
It is believed he drowned, although an official cause of death has
not yet been released.
The Marion County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy on the
body today.
Police and Child Protective Services are investigating the death.
