'Very large' hurricane Igor pounds tiny Bermuda

Hurricane Igor pounded Bermuda with ferocious winds, waves and rain on
Sunday, toppling trees and power lines as the Atlantic island chain
felt the force of one of the worst storms to hit the area.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center was calling Igor a "very large"
hurricane. Its top sustained winds slackened slightly as it closed in
on the small British overseas territory, a popular tourist destination.
The core of Igor, a Category 1 hurricane packing maximum sustained
winds near 120 km/h, was expected to pass further to the west of the
Atlantic island group than initially thought, the Bermuda Weather
Service said.
