RESIDENTS of Perth's west have escaped injury after gale force winds
ripped off roofs and downed power lines during stormy weather that hit
the city.
Several areas of the city were evacuated, but all residents were
accounted for and no one was injured.
West Coast Highway was closed for some time as roofing debris and power
lines were cleared from the roads.
State Emergency Service volunteers remain on duty in the city after 18
calls for help in the metropolitan area following the wild weather
overnight, FESA said.
Other calls involved roof damage and collapsed ceilings from water
laden roof insulation, it said.
The wet and windy weather was expected to clear later today.
