Northern Arizona slammed by tornadoes, hail, floods

Storm clouds carrying heavy rain move across downtown Phoenix. High winds and tornadoes that struck the state today left at least 7 people injured near Flagstaff.

Tornadoes ripped through northern Arizona today from a storm system that has slammed the state for two days, the Arizona Republic reports.

At least two tornadoes hit the Flagstaff area, including one that derailed 28 cars of a parked freight train.

The Phoenix area was hard hit on Tuesday by 70 mph winds, flooding and tennis ball-sized hail.

In Bellemont, 30 people were evacuated from 15 homes that were left uninhabitable by the high winds, the Associated Press reports.

No deaths or serious injuries were reported.
