A BRITISH father is suspected of killing his diabetic son before taking
his own life, apparently fearing he would lose his little boy in a
custody battle.
The bodies of Chris Hall and his son, believed to be aged five and also
called Chris, were found on Wednesday at their home in Poole,
southwestern England, Sky News reported.
Media reports have suggested that Hall drugged his son before
committing suicide.
Neighbor Phil Haley, 38, said Hall had been incredibly upset after
splitting up with his partner, Rachel Edwards, a few months ago.
He said the father had also faced legal problems over the cafe the
former couple had run together in Poole.
"He doted on his little boy, he meant everything to him," Haley, said.
"He was a lovely little boy, it's absolutely tragic."
Haley said Hall, who is understood to be in his late 30s, had been
distraught at the prospect of losing his son, while social workers were
involved in organizing custody and visiting hours.
"There were lots of things going on in his life and little Chris was
getting very upset about things," he said.
"He must have felt that to get himself and little Chris out of the
situation he was in, that was what he felt he had to do," he added.
"I'm not saying that was the right thing but that must be how he felt."
Detectives say no one is being sought in connection with the tragic
incident, but the cause of the two deaths is yet to be determined.
