Earthquake strikes eastern Taiwan - More than 30 earthquakes
have rocked Taiwan so far this month

Taipei, June 14 (CNA) A magnitude-4.1 earthquake shook eastern
Taiwan's Hualien County at around noon Thursday, but there were no
immediate reports of casualties or damage, according to the
Central Weather Bureau's Seismology Center.
The temblor, which hit at 12:08 p.m., had a shallow epicenter at a
depth of 5 kilometers beneath the earth's surface, the center
said.
The epicenter was located in Hualien County's Shoufeng Township,
24.9 km southwest of Hualien County Hall, the center said, adding
that the strongest intensity of 5 was felt in Hualien.
Taiwan is an earthquake-prone area. More than 30 earthquakes have
rocked Taiwan so far this month, the strongest of which measured
6.5 on the Richter scale and was centered under the seabed off
eastern Taiwan June 10.
On Wednesday, three temblors with magnitudes of between 3.4 and
4.9 jolted the Taoyuan and Hsinchu areas of northern Taiwan but
did not cause any casualties or damage.
