A bolt of lightening has injured a teacher and at least six
children in Tamworth, in northwest New South Wales.
A New South Wales Ambulance spokeswoman says lightning struck a
tree, severing a branch which struck a woman on the head.
Six children aged between 13 and 15 suffered flash burn, which is
a painful inflammation of the cornea when a person's eyes are
exposed to bright ultraviolet light and they were taken to
Tamworth Base Hospital.
Eight other children present at the scene did not appear to be
injured but attended the same hospital for observation.
