Dear Parents:

 

Winter Break began today at 3:00 p.m. School will resume on Monday, January 4^th at 8:10 a.m.

 

Congratulations! One of our teachers is now a published author! Gary Raines (5^th grade teacher) published his first book: My Brother’s Blue this past November. The book is a children’s picture book about an autistic boy and his cat. The cat protects the boy until his family becomes aware of his special needs. It is a great read! To learn more, the book is available in our Media Center, AuthorHouse.com and Amazon.com

Yearbook:

Mark your calendars.  The days are ticking away.  Yearbook order deadline is January 15, 2010.  All orders must be received by then in order you to have a yearbook in June.  Don't miss out on the memories.  Get your order in today. 

 

Progress Reports are going home today. If you do not receive one, please contact your child’s guidance counselor when we return.

 

Forensics:

Congratulations to the West Hills Middle School Forensics Team for its first place finish, in the small school division, against nationally ranked teams, at the Stars of Tomorrow Invitational Tournament held in Florence, Ky. 

 

Individual winners are:  Erin Weingarten 1st place  Public Address, Gabby Wells and Merrick Weingarten 4th place Duo Acting, Jenna Weberman 5th place Solo Acting, Jolie Sherman 6th place Storytelling, Drew Warnecke 7th place Prose, Mansoor Mubeen 8th place Solo Acting, Hannah Manella 8th place Prose.

 

Additional participants include: Shelbi Jouni, Amelia Klass, Zoe Lis, Hannah Manella, Heather Moriarty and Stacy Tsai.

• December 17^th: Board Meeting 7:00 p.m., Student/Staff Recognition
• December 18^th: 6^th – 8^th grade Progress Reports go home with students. If you did not receive one, please contact your child’s guidance counselor.
